This will be a very quick tutorial on how to create banner ads.
Sometimes people get a little unnerved by the html code or the other terminology used. So let’s break it down. When you place a banner ad most of the time it will require you to make two entries, a banner url and a target url.
The banner url also referred to as the image source (img src) is the location on the internet where your banner can be found.
The target url answers the question, “once someone clicks on your banner, where do you want them to go?” You may want the person clicking on your banner to go to your affiliate link or to a splash page or a lead capture page (where you usually have to fill in your name and email address in order to get more information like a free ebook, for example)
The banner name can be a nickname you have assigned to your banner so you’re able to differentiate one banner from the other. For example, GDI ferrari to me represents the red GDI banner you’ve probably come across while you’re surfing.
Ok, for pretends let’s set up a banner campaign using my PTC Income Today Banner.
For this example I will use a fictitious affiliate id name of billybob
Where on the internet is my banner located?
Banner url: http://ptcincometoday.com/images/468-60.gif
When someone clicks on my banner, where do I want them to go?
Target url: http://www.ptcincometodaysystem.com/r/billybob/home.html
Now let’s say, I wants to show a banner on my blog or website. I could accomplish the whole thing by using html (hyper text markup language). If you don’t know html, no worries.
If you only had the html code you would be able to easily find the target url and the banner url in between the parentheses.
<a href=”http://www.ptcincometodaysystem.com/r/billybob/home.html“> <img src=”http://ptcincometoday.com/images/468-60.gif“></a>
If you want to learn more about html code and be able to practice it as well online go here.
Hope this helps!
